Playful Fatherhood with Alex Budak

“I think silliness can help widen the space of emotions that we as dads can feel and give to our kids. I think as fathers, we should more often give ourselves the permission to be silly with our children.”
— Alex Budak

In this episode of 2 Dads 1 Car, reporting from the UC Berkeley campus of sunny California, we speak with Alex Budak, a professor at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and accomplished author of “Becoming a Changemaker”. Alex is also the father of a young son and daughter.

In this episode, Alex and I discuss the importance of being silly as fathers. Alex and I discuss how learning to be silly with our children can diversify their experiences of emotion, fear, and anxiety as they go through the challenges of everyday life. Moving onto Alex’s research topic of courage, Alex talks about his children’s curiosity surrounding bravery, and how he has imparted his lessons on courage and storytelling from university classrooms to his young kids.

Big thanks to Alex for taking the time to speak with us today!
